Drug and Alcohol Screening
Our services include accurate drug and alcohol screenings that are available to employees in a clinic or on-site. All options are quick, painless, and efficient for you and the employee.
Drug & Alcohol Screening Tests
Screening is used to detect the presence of illicit and/or prescription drug use. These can be performed post incident or at random as per your companies drug and alcohol policy.
Drug screening tests are performed with urine or saliva however urine drug tests are more often the screening sample of choice as generally saliva testing have a shorter detectable period than urine. Both screens will be performed while under the supervision of an accredited collector to meet the standards AS/NZS 4308:2008 & AS/NSW 4760:2019.
A breath sample is taken to detect the presence of Alcohol. This is a simple test were an employee is required to breath into a tube.
Prior to testing consent is required. This chain of custody form is a legal document which is filled in by the collector and signed by the employee. Photo identification is required prior to conducting drug and alcohol screening. This can be in the form of a drivers licence or passport.
How Samples Are Collected
Urine samples are collected in a drug screening pot. The collector will either remain outside of the bathroom or be present in the bathroom as the sample is provided.
Saliva samples are collected via a swab, which is inserted inside of the cheek and under the tongue.
Onsite And In-Clinic Screening
All of our collectors are experienced with onsite drug testing. The process is quite simple and will only require access to a private room and bathroom for urine collection. The testing environment will be assessed to insure the employee has no access to adulteration items such as running water or liquids.
In-clinic screening is available at many of our clinic locations. Call anytime to book in.
Results
Drug and Alcohol Testing will produce a Negative or Non-Negative result.
Non-Negative results indicate the presence of a substance within a drug category, these can either be illicit or prescribed. Urine non-negative results can be sent to an accredited laboratory for confirmation testing, this is called GCMS or LCMS. Generally these results take 48 hours. Laboratory confirmation testing is not currently available for saliva screen.
A non-negative result cannot be deemed positive without confirmation testing.
